DIN-TERM
DIN-Terminology Database on CD-ROM
Publisher: DIN
Publication date 2011-03
9. Edition, CD-ROM
This database contains standard terminology laid down in German Standards (DIN, DIN EN and DIN EN ISO Standards and draft Standards) and from the International Electrotechnical Vocabulary (IEV).
With more than 263,900 terms and definitions (mostly trilingual, in English, German and French), including all notes, examples, footnotes and sources, the database is an essential tool for all those working with technical language.
The Structure of the DIN-TERM Database
The Terminology Office DIN-TERMKONZEPT at DIN maintains the database DIN-TERM which documents the terminology in DIN standards, DIN draft standards, prestandards and technical rules.
The database takes into consideration international, European and national standards. It includes terms (with their English and French equivalents where these are given in standards), definitions and detailed source references.
The texts are authentic; corrections have been made only in the case of obvious errors not related to content.
There is often more than one entry for certain terms. This is due to their polysemous use (i.e. the same term is used in a number of different areas) on the one hand, and also to the fact that documents are recorded at various stages of publication (standards and draft standards), where they can be valid simultaneously.
As the Terminology Office DIN-TERMKONZEPT uses not only the German but also the English and French language versions of parallel European and international documents, more than half the entries are multilingual (German, French and English).
