This volume, DIN Handbook 15/1, contains basic standards for steel pipelines which had been previously contained in DIN Handbook 15, as well as several further standards for steel pipelines, such as the DIN 2430 series dealing with piping for pigging systems, DIN EN 805 for water supply systems and components outside buildings, and DIN EN 12056-1 covering gravity drainage systems inside buildings. This handbook also now includes the five-part DIN EN 764 series, which deals with pressure equipment covered by European Directive 97/23/EC. These standards give information on terminology, quantities, units and symbols, safety systems, inspection documentation and technical delivery conditions. Because DIN EN 10311 "Joints for the connection of steel tubes and fittings for the conveyance of water and other aqueous liquids" only partially replaces DIN 2460, the latter is being revised and will be published as a "residual standard". The currently valid edition of DIN 2460 is contained in DIN Handbook 15/2.
