Overview:

This standard has been prepared on the basis of the series DIN EN 1997 "Eurocode 7: Geotechnical design - Part 1: General rules" or their updating activities, as well as on the basis of DIN 4020 "Geotechnical investigations for civil engineering purposes". The standard gives empirical values for soil properties which can be used for determination of actions on structures due to the soil load or the earth pressure. Amongst others, the new version of the standard series DIN 1055 has been has been prepared with the objective to support the implementation of the corresponding European standards of the DIN EN 1991 series in practice. Furthermore, the DIN 1055 standard series serves as a basis for the preparation of the national annexes for the corresponding DIN EN 1991 standard series. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 005-51-03 AA "Lastannahmen für Bauten, Bodenkenngrößen" ("Design loads for buildings, soil parameters") at DIN.
