Overview

This standard specifies a method for the differentiated determination of the content of organic carbon (TOC400) released up to 400 °C, residual oxidizable carbon (ROC) (including lignite, hard coal, charcoal, diesel soot) and inorganic carbon (TIC900) released up to 900 °C. The method is based on dry combustion in the oxygen stream to carbon dioxide by means of temperature gradients from 150 °C to 900 °C in dry solid samples of soil with technogenic admixtures as well as solid waste with contents of carbon dioxide. The basis is the dry combustion in the oxygen stream to carbon dioxide by means of temperature gradients from 150 °C to 900 °C in dry solid samples of soil, soil with technogenic admixtures as well as solid waste with contents of more than 1 g carbon per kg (0,1 % C) (per carbon species in the measurement sample). This document has been prepared by Working Group NA 119-01-02-02-31 AK "Elementarer Kohlenstoff" ("Elemental carbon") of Subcommittee NA 119-01-02-02 UA "Chemische und physikalische Verfahren" ("Chemical and physical methods") at DIN Standards Committee Water Practice (NAW).
