DIN EN 16657:2016-11

This European Standard specifies the minimum performance and construction requirements for overfill prevention controllers located on the tank vehicle. This European Standard applies to overfill prevention controllers for liquid fuels, having a flash point up to but not exceeding +100 °C. The requirements apply to overfill prevention controllers suitable for use at ambient temperatures in the range from -25 °C to +60 °C, and subject to normal operational pressure variations. Together with DIN EN 13616-1 and DIN EN 13612-2, this document will replace DIN EN 13616:2004-09 and DIN EN 13616 Corrigendum 1:2006-04. With reference to EN 13616:2004, the following significant changes were made in EN 16657:2016 when it superseded it: a) splitting of EN 13616:2004; the new EN 13616, under the general title "Overfill prevention devices for static tanks for liquid fuels - Requirements and test/assessment methods" will consist of the following parts: Part 1: Overfill prevention devices with closure device; Part 2: Overfill prevention devices without closure device; b) reference to EN 14116; c) explosion-technical parameters updated; d) the requirements for the equipment of the overfill prevention devices without closure device on the static tank are fixed in EN 13616-2; e) the requirements for the equipment of the overfill prevention devices without closure device on the tank vehicle are fixed in prEN 16657 "Tanks for the transport of dangerous goods - Transport tank equipment for overfill prevention devices for static tanks". This document describes the controller installed on the tank for an overfill prevention device according to EN 13616-2. The sensor is also specified in EN 13612-2. This European Standard has been prepared by Working Group 8 "Electronic equipment and products" (secretariat: DIN) of CEN/TC 296 "Tanks for transport of dangerous goods" (secretariat: AFNOR, France). The German Working Committee involved in the preparation of the standard was NA 104-02-04 AA "Überfüllsicherungen und Füllstandsanzeiger" ("Overfill prevention devices and tank content gauges") of DIN Standards Committee Tank Installations (NATank).
