Overview

This document (EN 16896:2016) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 19 "Gaseous and liquid fuels, lubricants and related products of petroleum, synthetic and biological origin", the secretariat of which is held by NEN (the Netherlands). The responsible German standardization committee is Subcommittee NA 062-06-32-01 UA "Prüfung von FAME" ("Testing of FAME") at Working Committee NA 062-06-32 AA "Anforderungen an flüssige Kraftstoffe" ("Requirements for liquid fuels") of Fachausschuss Mineralöl- und Brennstoffnormung (FAM) "(Technical Committee Petroleum, Fuels, Lubricants and Related Products (FAM)") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP). This document specifies a procedure for the determination of kinematic viscosity by calculation from dynamic viscosity and density of middle distillate fuels, fatty acid methyl ester fuels (FAME) and mixtures of these using the Stabinger-type viscosimeter.
