Elderly toothless people often use dentures for chewing. If the hard denture wobbles and fits poorly, then a soft plastic is bonded underneath to ensure that the denture holds well. The standard specifies requirements for the physical properties, test methods, packaging, labeling and instructions for use of relining materials for long-term use in dentistry. A type classification, the determination of the Shore A hardness after 24 h and 30 days are described. Sampling, production of test specimens and test methods are specified. Furthermore, the necessary data for packaging, labeling and instructions for use are specified. The International Standard has been prepared by ISO/TC 106/SC 2/WG 10 "Resilient lining materials" (secretariat: NSI, Norway) in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 55 "Dentistry" (secretariat: DIN). The responsible committee is DIN Working Committee NA 014-00-02 AA "Polymere Prothetikwerkstoffe" ("Polymeric prosthetic materials") at NADENT.
This document replaces DIN EN ISO 10139-2:2010-01 .
