The specified procedures are based on the basic requirements of DIN EN ISO 20643 "Mechanical vibration - Hand-held and hand-guided machinery - Principles for evaluation of vibration emission" and are used to determine the vibration emission values. The vibration characteristic value thus measured fulfils the requirements of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, which has been exclusively valid since the end of December 2009; it must be stated in the technical documentation of the machine and enables the purchaser to select a low-vibration device. The International Standard on which this standard is based has been prepared by ISO/TC 118/SC 3 "Pneumatic tools and machines" in collaboration with CEN/TC 231 "Mechanical vibration and shock". CEN has published it unchanged as a European Standard. The responsible German committee is NA 001-03-07-02 "Hand-Arm-Schwingungen" ("Hand-arm vibration"). The international and European Amendment A1 incorporated in this new edition of the German standard mainly concerns modified exemplary representations of saws and files in Clause 5, a modified description of the required contact forces and a new version of 8.4.2.4 on the measurement of files and machines for polishing needles.
