Overview:

This standard specifies the requirements for systems and methods for the inspection and testing of optical fibre cabling designed in accordance with ISO/IEC 11801 or the DIN EN 50173 standard series or equivalent standards. This standard uses standardized test methods where they exist. With respect to DIN ISO/IEC 14763-3:2009-01, amongst other things the following changes have been made: a) various terms and definitions have been amended and added (clause 3); b) additional specifications for the test system (clause 6); c) more precise specifications for the reference planes (clause 8); d) specifications for the testing of installed cabling (clause 9) and cabling components within installed cabling (clause 10) have been changed and added; e) a new version of Annex A on launched modal distribution; f) additional information about visual inspection criteria for connectors (Annex B); g) a new version of the description of reference test methods (Annex E); h) new Annex G with example calculations of channel and permanent link limits. The responsible Subcommittee is Joint Subcommittee GUK 715.3 "Informationstechnische Verkabelung von Gebäudekomplexen" ("Customer premises cabling") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
