Overview

The transfer of data to or between multiple hybrid mail operators requires that the print data be linked to a number of data contents to support operation, production, finishing, etcetera based on the data for printing. The data content created in this way ensures that all relevant information accompanies the actual document print data. In addition, hybrid mail operators are enabled to further automate existing processes with customers and other hybrid mail operators. The basic standard is the result of a need for a standardized but flexible way to make data accessible to a hybrid mail operator or to exchange data between hybrid mail operators. The standard is intended to allow manufacturers of applications for the creation of documents (letters, advertising mail, etcetera) and output management systems from other applications (accounting systems, systems for controlling document production) to ensure necessary additions by using the same data presentation and thus seamless data exchange. The scope of the Technical Specification aims at the definition of the rules for the syntax of the data stream for the transmission of print data to a hybrid mail operator or between hybrid mail operators. The Technical Specification defines an XML schema definition (XSD for short) for describing the data stream.
