Overview

This pre-standard applies to staff protection systems using public telecommunications networks (PNA-11). It specifies the minimum requirements for the design, function and testing of devices for these staff protection systems. Requirements for the construction and equipment of radio staff protection systems for hazardous solo work are specified in DIN VDE V 0825-1 (VDE V 0825-1). In contrast, this pre-standard describes requirements for the construction and equipment of radio staff protection systems using public telecommunications networks (PNA-11). The task of a staff protection system (PNA-11) is to summon assistance for those in need of solitary work by triggering and transmitting voluntary and involuntary personal alarms without delay, as well as establishing an additional voice connection in an emergency. The personal alarm is transmitted wirelessly to a receiving device (EE). The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 713.1 "Gefahrenmelde- und Überwachungsanlagen" ("Alarm and surveillance systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
