Short description
Securing of loads is the sum of measures, which are intended to prevent goods from causing harm, sustain damage or to cause a hazard on the way from sender to receiver due to usual traffic-related driving conditions. Since there are no established guidelines and the rules for rigid cargo are not applicable without modification, the standard gives a first fundamental overview on securing loads of bulk materials in flexible packaging and its cargo securing. The standard accommodates the unique physical behaviour of bulk materials in flexible packaging, including aspects such as the "delayed reactive" behaviour of many bulk materials, the displacement mechanics of bulk materials and the resulting possibilities of load securing, e.g. by mechanical interlocking (or restraint lashing). The delayed reactive behaviour results from material properties, which can yield to different internal friction.
