Short description
Technical advances and the increasing use of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) are opening up new possibilities for monitoring propagation episodes or in the event of accidents. In contrast to radiosondes, these techniques can detect not only vertical but also horizontal fields of meteorological quantities and air admixtures. The standard deals with various measurement techniques which are the subject of the series of standards VDI 3786 and can be used in unmanned aerial vehicles. In addition, techniques are described which are specifically used on aircraft. Especially the particular characteristics of the measuring instrument carriers and the resulting necessary adjustments of the sensor technology are taken into account. The determination of horizontal fields and vertical structures by different flight patterns and the possibilities of interpretation in relation to the series of standards VDI 3783 and VDI 3787 as well as the surface properties are particularly worked out.
