Short description
This standard defines threaded fastening classes and minimum requirements for the assembly tools used and serves as a cross-disciplinary basis for the use of fastening systems and tools in plant and mechanical engineering and for components under pressure. The standard provides the user with the basic requirements for selecting fastening tools and thereby ensures the safe and reliable fabrication of joints. This is achieved by a clear classification of joint types into categories, by defining the minimum requirements for fastening tools/fastening systems for each category, and by defining the minimum requirements for fault detection within the category in question. The minimum requirements given are universally applicable and solution-independent. They are not tied to specific system structures, fastener designs or assembly technologies.
