The standard provides information about the measurement and evaluation of the mechanical vibration of WT and their components.
It describes effects of wing and sea swell in the case of offshore WTs, flow disturbances due to the tower and the natural vibration of the rotor blades and structure itself. Its application enables to standardize measurements, to assist in their evaluation and to make possible a comparative evaluation of the vibration measured in WTs and their components. It also enables a comparable evaluation of measured vibration of wind turbines and their components.
Basis of the assessment are measured vibration values of a multitude of wind turbines with gearboxes collected by manufacturers, insurers and servicing companies. It also provides information on in-situ balancing of the main rotor.
