The standard defines a common language to describe the content of the TRIZ methodology. It offers a reference basis for the comparison of existing and new knowledge. New developed TRIZ tools can be clearly differentiated and double interpretations can be avoided. The distinction between approved and investigational tools is facilitated for the technical work of the engineer. The standard provides a standardisation of terminology and procedures, which improves the quality of the application results for both, beginners and experienced users in the areas of teaching and counseling. It is not a textbook in which the methods are described in detail.
