Overview

This document (EN 16294:2012) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 19 "Gaseous and liquid fuels, lubricants and related products of petroleum, synthetic and biological origin", the secretariat of which is held by NEN. Regarding the German collaboration, the responsible committee is Subcommittee NA 062-06-32-01 UA "Prüfung von FAME" ("Testing of FAME") at the Petroleum, Fuels, Lubricants and Related Products Standardization Committee (FAM) of the Materials Testing Standards Committee (NMP) at DIN. This document was first developed to present a determination of both low levels of sulfur and phosphorus in FAME at the same time. However, interlaboratory studies revealed that the precision for sulfur was not better than for other common techniques. It was thus decided to limit this method exclusively to phosphorus.
