Overview

This standard specifies the use of types of platforms for the manufacture of stage structures or studio settings as well as decorations. According to this standard, steps and stairs, single or composed, are types of platforms. These platforms are intended as facilities of a temporary character in stage and studio industries. The standard does not restrict the artistic design aspirations of the stage architects or stage designers. For steps and stairs, requirements result regarding the ratio between going (a) and rise (s) which are solely determined by the scenic impression on the viewer (spectators in the theatre or recorder in film and television). A classification of this ratio into any existing rules is therefore only possible to a limited extent. The DIN 15920 standard series "Entertainment technology - Practical types" serves as a modular system for platform elements which may be used both for stage structures or studio settings of stage technology as well as studio technology. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 149-00-06 AA "Einrichtungen und Arbeitsmittel" ("Equipment and working materials") at DIN.
