Blasting is the forcible and sudden rupturing as well as division of blasting objects by the energy generated during the conversion of an explosive charge. In mining, the blasting objects mainly consist of natural composite rock with various characteristics. Due to the special conditions in hard coal mining, firedamp and coal dust safety of the detonating cords are of decisive importance for blasting safety. This standard specifies the safety requirements and tests for detonating cords used as detonating device for explosives or themselves as explosives in underground working sites of hard coal mining which are potentially explosive by damp proof or coal dust. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee "Sprengschnüre" ("Detonating cords") of NA 008-07-04 GA "Gemeinschaftsarbeitsausschuss NMP/FABERG; Explosivstoffe für zivile Zwecke" ("Explosives for civil uses").
