Overview

This standard specifies requirements for the sound insulation of building components of rooms requiring protection and for the permissible sound levels in rooms requiring protection in residential and non-residential buildings to achieve the described sound insulation objectives. The requirements of this standard apply to the protection - against noise from other rooms (for example, neighboring dwellings), which arises during their intended use, - against noise from technical building equipment systems as well as from commercial and industrial operations present in the same building or in buildings structurally connected to it, - against external noise, such as traffic noise and noise from commercial and industrial operations that are not structurally connected to the rooms requiring protection and form the basis for required building constructions for new buildings as well as for structural changes to existing buildings.
