Overview

This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 008-12-02 AA "Prüfung fester Brennstoffe" ("Testing of solid fuels") of the Mining Standards Committee (FABERG). The standard is applicable for instrumental determination of the proportion of total sulfur in hard coals, brown coals, lignites, petroleum coke and charcoal by means of high temperature combustion with downstream (for instance, infrared spectrometric) detection. The instruments necessary for this task are commercially obtainable. The standard is applicable to all coals up to a maximum ash content of 40 %. On the basis of several inter-laboratory tests performed between 2006 and 2010 by Working Committee NA 008-12-02 AA "Prüfung fester Brennstoffe" ("Testing of solid fuels") of FABERG, the precision data has been revised and adopted to ISO 19579.
