Overview

This standard describes test conditions and test methods as well as repeat intervals which shall be taken into consideration during constancy testing of electronic portal imaging devices (EPIDs) for radiotherapy with high-energy photon radiation in order to be able to determine modifications of functional performance characteristics during the total duration of use. This standard does not cover cross-sectional imaging methods and applications of EPIDs for dosimetric purposes. When reasonable, the constancy tests described in this standard can be adopted for these applications. Safety aspects, such as the function of available protection against touching, are not covered in this standard. These are dealt with in DIN EN 60601-2-1. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 080-00-05 AA "Strahlentherapie" ("Radiotherapy") of the Radiology Standards Committee (NAR).
