Overview

This standard specifies framework conditions for the safe operation of magnetic resonance systems. Operation includes examinations of patients; measurements on test subjects; work as part of research and development; quality assurance measures; maintenance work and cleaning tasks. The standard provides users with help in organizing the safe operation of an MR system by defining the contents of instructions and work instructions. When implementing these contents, the responsible organization will be advised by an MR safety expert whose tasks are likewise defined in this standard. It supplements the product safety standard DIN EN 60601-2-33 (VDE 0750-2-33), which, while specifying contents of the operating instructions relating to the safe operation of an MR system, only indirectly touches upon organizational aspects. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 080-00-08 AA "Magnetresonanzverfahren" ("Magnetic resonance procedures") of the Radiology Standards Committee (NAR).
