This European Standard specifies requirements and test methods for helmets intended for use by young children while pursuing recreational activities in environments which have proven risks of head injuries. The requirements and the corresponding methods of test refer to the following points: construction including field of vision, shock absorbing properties, retention system properties, including chin strap, fastening devices and self-release system, marking and information. This document (EN 1080:2013) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 158 "Head protection" in Working Group WG 6 "Airborne sports helmets", the secretariat of which is held by BSI (United Kingdom). The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 112-04-02 AA "Sportschutzhelme" ("Sports protective helmets") at the Sports Equipment Standards Committee (NASport).
This document replaces DIN EN 1080:2006-03 .
