DIN EN 12999:2011-06

This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to lorry loader cranes which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This standard differs from DIN EN 12999:2003-07, DIN EN 12999/A1:2004-10 and DIN EN 12999/A2:2007-06 as follows: a) the content has been completely revised on the basis of EU Directives and technical development (for example, calculation on the basis of the EN 13001 series); b) an informative Annex ZB on the relationship between this European Standard and the essential requirements of EU Directive 2006/42/EC has been included. This product standard correlates closely with EN 13001-1, EN 13001-2 and prEN 13001-3-1 which apply to all types of cranes. This European Standard specifies minimum requirements for design, calculation, examinations and pre-operational tests of hydraulic powered loader cranes and their mountings on vehicles or static foundations. This European Standard does not apply to loader cranes used on board ships or floating structures or to articulated boom system cranes which are designed as total integral parts of special equipment such as forwarders. This European Standard does not cover hazards related to the lifting of persons. The use of cranes for lifting of persons can be subject to specific national regulations. This European Standard is not applicable to loader cranes which are manufactured before the date of its publication as an EN.
