Document EN 15288-1:2008+A1:2010 contains the European Amendment to EN 15288-1:2008 and specifies safety requirements which shall be taken into account when designing classified pools according to clause 4. It is intended for persons who are concerned with the design of classified swimming pools. It provides guidance about the risks associated with the design characteristics by describing the characteristics to achieve a safe environment. The requirements of this European Standard are applicable to all new pools and, as appropriate, to partly or completely refurbished existing pools. This European Standard has limited application to classified pools which consist of segregated areas of rivers, lakes or the sea. However, it should be followed where relevant.
The European Standard EN 15288-1, including Amendment 1, has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 136 "Sports, playground and other recreational facilities and equipment", Working Group 8, the secretariat of which is held by DIN (Germany). The responsible national standardization committee is Working Committee NA 112-05-01 AA "Schwimmbadanlagen und -geräte" ("Swimming pool facilities and equipment") of NASport.
