Overview

This standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 129 "Glass in building", the secretariat of which is held by NBN. The responsible German committee is Working Committee NA 005-09-91 AA "Prüfung von Beschichtungen auf Glas" ("Tests for coatings on glass"). This European Standard describes methods of determining the luminous and solar characteristics of glazing in buildings. These characteristic can serve as a basis for lighting, heating and cooling calculations of rooms. They permit comparison between different types of glazing. This European Standard applies both to conventional glazing and to absorbing or reflecting solar control glazing, used as vertical or horizontal glazed apertures. The appropriate formulae for single, double and triple glazing are given. DIN EN 410 from 1998 has been completely revised. The following amendments, amongst others, have been made. A shading coefficient SC has been introduced in a new clause 5.7, and two new annexes have been incorporated, Annex B (normative) "Procedure for calculation of the spectral characteristics of laminated glass", and Annex C (informative) "Procedure for calculation of the spectral characteristics of screen printed glass". Furthermore, the values in Table 3 regarding normalized relative spectral distribution of the UV part of the global solar radiation multiplied by the wavelength interval have been revised. The previous Annex A (normative) "Procedures for calculation of the spectral characteristics of glass plates with a different thickness and/or colour" remains and has been slightly revised editorially. The previous informative Annex B remains unchanged in terms of content. It is now classified as Annex D (informative) "Example of calculation of colour rendering index" in the standard.
