To our valued customers,

Monday is the day:

Beuth Verlag will become DIN Media.

You can find out more about our new name and the reasons behind it here.

We ask for your understanding that, due to this change, we will be temporarily unavailable on Sunday. It will also not be possible to place any orders on Sunday.

But we will be there for you from Monday onwards with our new name.

Overview

This standard contains the German version of the European Standard EN 50121-2:2015. It defines limit values and measurement methods for the spurious emission of the whole railway system to the outside world and contains information about common field strengths from 0 Hz to high frequency (cartography). The specific provisions are to be used in conjunction with DIN EN 50121-1 (VDE 0115-121-1). The spurious emissions considered in this standard are generated by moving rail vehicles as they pass by and are to be measured using field strength meters set to several fixed frequencies. The horizontal component of the magnetic field perpendicular to the track and the vertical and horizontal components of the field shall be measured. As the spurious emission does not have to have reached its maximum value when the traction unit passes the measuring point, but may occur when the vehicle is far away, the measuring equipment shall be in continuous operation during the test and shall not be triggered by the approach of the train to the measuring point. In addition, this standard specifies the measurement conditions (weather conditions, the standardized railroad environment, the interaction of several trains) and specifies the information to be included in the test report. Compared to the previous standard, the scope has been clarified and the previously undated references have been changed to dated references. Furthermore, Clause 5 and Annex A regarding the measurement procedures for running railroad vehicles and railroad substations were combined and the recording procedure described in 5.2 has been clarified. Finally, the limit values for radiated magnetic fields in the frequency range 9 kHz to 150 kHz have been deleted, as it was found that only a few susceptible devices are present outside the railway area and the reproducibility of the measurement procedure is low. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 767.12 "Funkstörungen durch Hochspannungsfreileitungen und -anlagen und EMV von Bahnen" ("Radio interference by high voltage overhead lines and installations and EMC of railways") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
