This standard applies for the safety of electrical whirlpools baths for indoor use and whirlpool spas for household and similar use, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. This standard also applies to appliances for circulation of air or water in normal bath tubs. Appliances which are not intended for normal household use but which can still present a source of danger for the general public, such as appliances which are used by laymen in hotels, fitness centres and similar places, are also within the scope of this standard. By incorporating Amendments A11:2010 and A12:2010 into the European Standard EN 60335-2-60:2003, the subclauses 22.33 and 24.7 of EN 60335-2-60:2003 have been supplemented or changed. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 511.11 "Motorische Geräte" ("Motor-operated appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) of DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 60335-2-60:2009-05; VDE 0700-60:2009-05 .
