This International Standard deals with the safety of electric shavers, hair clippers and similar appliances intended for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V. The requirements for clippers and hair clippers for animals have been updated. Due to the closely spaced publications of EN 60335-2-8:2015 and the amendment EN 60335-2-8:2015/A1:2016, both EN standards were published simultaneously in this one German language version. IEC 60335-2-8:2012/A1:2015 includes a more concrete definition of battery-powered devices and how they should be tested. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 511.10 "Kleingeräte" ("Small appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN EN 60335-2-8:2009-05; VDE 0700-8:2009-05 .
