Part 2-18 of DIN EN 60598 contains requirements for fixed luminaires intended for use in water, or in contact with water, for example in swimming pools, fountains, paddling pools, and garden pools. Part 2-18 of DIN EN 60598 does not cover luminaires not in contact with water (for example, if mounted behind a glass panel which is separated from the luminaire) or hand-held or portable luminaires. It applies in conjunction with the main sections of DIN EN 60598-1 (VDE 0711-1) to which reference is made. Electrical installation rules for swimming pools are given in DIN VDE 0100-702 (VDE 0100-702) "Low-voltage electrical installations - Part 7-702: Requirements for special installations or locations - Basins of swimming pools, other water basins and fountains". The committee responsible for the standard is Subcommittee DKE/UK 521.4 "Leuchten" ("Luminaires") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
