This standard applies to microwave ovens for household use. It also applies to combination microwave ovens. This standard defines the main performance characteristics of household microwave ovens which are of interest to the user, and it specifies methods for measuring these characteristics. The following changes have been made with respect to DIN EN 60705 (VDE 0705-705):2013-02: a) renaming of the usable volume to the calculated volume and revision of the measurement method required for the calculated volume (see 7.2) which is in accordance with IEC 60350-1 is; b) in Clause 3, new terms and definitions for microwave function, microwave combination function, set in the off state, set in the standby state, cooling phase and food rack; c) in Clause 9, a method of measuring energy consumption for microwave function; d) in Table 2, more precise requirements for measuring devices and measurements; e) in Clause 10, additional product-specific requirements for the energy consumption measurement of the operating modes with low power consumption; f) in Annex F (informative), a method for measuring energy consumption during the cool-down phase. The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 513.2 "Herde und Mikrowellengeräte" ("Cooking ranges and microwave ovens") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
