Overview

This standard applies to control circuit devices and switching elements intended for controlling, signalling, interlocking, and so on, of switchgear and controlgear. It applies to control circuit devices having a rated voltage not exceeding 1 000 V a.c. (not exceeding 1 000 Hz) or not exceeding 600 V d.c. With respect to DIN EN 60947-5-1 (VDE 0660 Part 200):2005-02 many modifications have been made. Major modifications relate to the EMC requirements and extended specifications for terminal markings. Some requirements have been replaced by referring to IEC 60947-1. Requirements for emergency stop devices have been replaced by referring to IEC 60947-5-5. At DIN and VDE the responsible Committee is K 431 "Niederspannungsschaltgeräte und -kombinationen" ("Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies).
