This part of IEC 61300 describes the procedure to determine the concentricity of the axis of the bore in a non-angled ferrule with the axis of the ferrule, or in the case of non-angled ferrules with fibre installed, to determine the concentricity of the axis of the fibre core with the axis of the ferrule. The standard describes three different measurement methods. The standard provides manufacturers, users and testing laboratories with the safety of the definition of concentricity of ferrules and is intended as reference in quality control. The responsible body is DKE/UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
