The standard specifies general and safety requirements for light-emitting diode (LED) modules: - non-integrated LED modules (LEDni modules) and semi-integrated LED modules (LEDsi modules) for operation under constant voltage, constant current or constant power; - Integrated LED modules (LEDi modules) for use on DC supplies up to 250 V or AC supplies up to 1 000 V at 50 Hz or 60 Hz. In addition, the labelling of LED modules is described with regard to their suitability for constant voltage or constant current, and a symbol for labelling modules for installation on the packaging or on the module itself is introduced. Requirements for thermal management of interchangeable modules are listed in a new clause. The responsible body is DKE/UK 521.1 "Elektrische Lampen" ("Electrical lamps") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
