Overview

This International Product Standard provides the process of declaring the environmental aspects of an uninterruptible power systems (UPS) including identification, measuring and reporting. Moreover, it specifies essential environmental requirements for an UPS according to this standard. These requirements include information on the manufacturer, materials, distribution and transport as well as disassembly and recycling, and they are complemented by annexes on substances to be declared and measures for specific materials at the end of life of the UPS. This standard applies to movable, stationary and/or fixed UPS that deliver single or three-phase fixed frequency a.c. output voltage not exceeding 1 000 V a.c. and that present, generally through a d.c. link, an energy storage system. The publication of this product standard for environmental information of UPS is intended to become a reference document for regulators, manufacturers, purchasers, certifying bodies and users, so that the goal of promoting reduction of the environmental impact during a complete UPS life cycle is achieved. The responsible committee is DKE/K 331."Leistungselektronik" ("Power electronic systems and equipment") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
