Overview

European Standard EN 748 has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 136 "Sports, playground and other recreational facilities and equipment". The revision has become necessary as a modification of Type 3 and Type 4 still needed to be incorporated. This European Standard specifies the functional requirements for 4 types and 2 sizes and the safety requirements for football goals. It is applicable to football goals for training and competition in outdoor sports facilities and indoor arenas. Since there is a regulation by law in France to secure goals against falling by fixing them, France introduced a national deviation for Type 4. The responsible German working committee is NA 112-01-02 AA "Turngeräte, Matten und Spielfeldgeräte" ("Gymnastic equipment, mats and playing field equipment") at the Sports Equipment Standards Committee (NASport) at DIN.
