Standard EN ISO 3819 specifies a series of glass beakers 3.3 f for normal laboratory use. These beakers are suitable for a variety of laboratory tasks. Nominal capacities, dimensions with limit dimensions, material, construction requirements, thermal shock resistance and marking are specified. In addition to the usual beakers with a high or low shape, there is a new series with a larger wall thickness. The European Standard has been adopted by CEN/TC 332 "Laboratory Equipment" from the International Organization for Standardization ISO. It has been prepared by ISO Technical Committee TC 48 "Laboratory equipment". All committees mentioned are under the German secretariat. The responsible German Mirror Committee is Working Committee "Glasgeräte und Apparate" ("Glassware and glass apparatus") (NA 055-01-03 AA) at the Laboratory Devices and Installations Standards Committee. It played a leading role in the development of this International, European and German Standard. The following changes have been made with respect to DIN 12331:1988-10: a) an additional series with thick-walled beakers has been added. b) dimensions and limit dimensions have been adapted to the manufacturing practice. c) beakers with a nominal volume of 500 ml, 5 000 ml and 10 000 ml have been added. d) the requirement for thermal shock resistance has been added.
This document replaces DIN 12331:1988-10 .
