This part of ISO 6506 specifies the method for the calibration of reference blocks to be used in the indirect verification of Brinell hardness testing machines as described in ISO 6506-2. The procedures necessary to ensure metrological traceability of the calibration machine are also specified. This document (FprEN ISO 6506-3:2014) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 164 "Mechanical testing of metals", Subcommittee SC 3 "Hardness testing" (secretariat: DIN, Germany) and has been adopted by Technical Committee ECISS/TC 101 "Test methods for steel (other than chemical analysis)" (secretariat: AFNOR, France) in accordance with the Vienna Agreement.
