This International Standard specifies test methods for assessing the durability, reliability and safety of fluid heating solar collectors. Moreover, this International Standard contains test methods to describe the thermal performance of liquid heating collectors, that is, the thermal performance of glazed or non-glazed liquid heating collectors in steady state and under quasi dynamic conditions, and the thermal performance of glazed and non-glazed air collectors (with closed loop circuit and open circuit). This International Standard is also applicable to hybrid solar collectors co-generating heat and electric power. However, it does not cover electrical safety aspects or other specific properties directly related to electric power generation. This International Standard applies also to collectors using external power sources for normal operation and/or safety purposes. This International Standard is not applicable to those devices in which a thermal storage unit is an integral part to such an extent that the collection process cannot be separated from the storage process how it can be necessary for making the collector performance measurements, for example. This document (EN ISO 9806:2013) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 180 "Solar energy" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 312 "Thermal solar systems and components", the secretariat of which is held by ELOT. The responsible German committee is NA 041-01-56 AA "Solaranlagen (SpA CEN/TC 312 und ISO/TC 180)" ("Solar systems (SpA CEN/TC 312 und ISO/TC 180)") at the Heating and Ventilation Technology and their Safety Standards Committee (NHRS).
