DVS Collection

DVS at DIN Media - Welding connects

Watch our video and find out why the DVS code of practice is a guarantee for high-quality welding results (in German only).

  • The collection of technical rules of DVS, the German Welding Society, comprises more than 500 DVS specifications and guidelines, the knowledge and application of which is a guarantee for high quality work in the joining, cutting and coating technologies. Welding, thermal spraying, bonding, additive manufacturing or soldering - these are just a few areas for which the DVS provides helpful documents with application-related content for practical use.

As generally accepted rules of technology, they describe and specify procedural/technical content, supplement important standards or represent new technical developments as a preliminary stage for later standardization.

Although the DVS specifications and guidelines are generally not legally binding, they are nevertheless highly regarded in the joining industry. This is because they are the results of a national consensus-building process with the participation of the technically interested public.

An example of the indispensable use of the DVS collection can be found in applications for joining plastics. Experts not only in Germany, but all over the world - especially in plant, vessel and pipe construction - follow the provisions of the DVS collection. For application-oriented information on construction methods, processes and the use of materials in practice, the DVS specifications and guidelines provide valuable orientation and ensure the implementation of recognized quality standards.

  • In the DVS collection, engineers and users in the joining, cutting and coating sectors will find practical orientation aids, instructions and guides for their fields of work. In addition to the joining of plastics, the DVS collection contains documents in many other fields, such as welding in the construction industry or welding in aerospace construction.

  • The documents are developed in the more than 200 working bodies of the Committee for Technology (AfT) in DVS by about 2,300 experts from industry, science, public authorities and partner associations.

In addition, the DVS committees deal with a wealth of more than 250 joining processes, the state of the art of which is updated in process documents for arc welding, electron beam welding or additive manufacturing, etc. Further areas covered are the various parent materials, filler metals and other consumables used in welding and the special consideration of quality assurance and occupational health and safety.
