Overview

This DIN Specification (DIN SPEC) according to the Technical Report procedure is the German version of the Technical Report CEN/TR 16099 which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 192 "Fire service equipment" (secretariat: BSI, Great Britain) of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The work of the responsible German Mirror Committee, Coordination Committee NA 031-04-FBR "Ausrüstung für die Feuerwehr" ("Fire service equipment") is coordinated by the Firefighting and Fire Protection Standards Committee (FNFW). The purpose of this Technical Report is to compile and compare the various pressure specifications for the water supply component system (including water with additives) used during fire extinguishing activities. It serves as an overview and explanation and is mainly intended to be used by the relevant working groups of CEN/TC 192 for the preparation of new standards or the revision of already existing standards. However, the Technical Report can also serve fire and rescue services regarding the design, selection, operation or maintenance of extinguishing equipment, as well as other committees of CEN or other organizations, which deal with related themes. The aim of the Technical Report is, in addition to being a collection of existing water pressures from published standards of CEN/TC 192, to support the work regarding a uniform compilation of definitions, values and descriptions in new or revised standards of CEN/TC 192, and to ensure that the definitions are clearer, more consistent and simpler for the users of the standards. A DIN specification (DIN SPEC) according to the Technical Report procedure contains a status report with information, data from or for standardization projects, which support information about the state of standardization - as well as of other (international and regional) standards organizations - and can be used as a basis for future standardization work. Technical reports allow for the securing of once obtained data and information by documenting work results of the standardization work which are not intended to be published as DIN standards or DIN SPEC following the Pre-standard procedure.
