Overview

This Technical Report describes a method for calibrating rainfall intensity gauges and defines measurement requirements. It deals exclusively with catching-type RI gauges and concentrates on the generic calibration, performance checking and estimation of uncertainties for RI gauges. It does not cover specific gauge measurement principles, technical characteristics and technology adopted in the design of RI gauges. The Technical Report has been prepared by CEN/TC 318/WG 12 "Measurement of rainfall intensity" (secretariat: UNI, Italy). The responsible German committee is NA 119-06-10 AA "Hydrometrie" ("Hydrometry") of the Water Practice Standards Committee.
