This European CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA 16558:2012) has been prepared at CEN by CEN Workshop CEN/WS BII2 "Business Interoperability Interfaces for Public procurement in Europe phase 2", the secretariat of which is held by NEN (Netherlands). This CEN Workshop Agreement (abbreviated as CWA) of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) is the product of the second CEN workshop regarding "Business Interoperability Interfaces for Public procurement in Europe" (WS/BII2). The objective of the Initiative for Business Interoperability Interfaces is to provide a framework for interoperability in pan-European electronic procurement transactions, expressed as a set of requirements and technical specifications. The requirements are input into UN/CEFACT standards in order to ensure global interoperability. In this document, which covers a series of technical specifications and additional documents, the architecture of Business Interoperability Interfaces (BII) is specified. For this purpose, general issues that are not specific for a given business process area are dealt with. The architectural documents and guidelines have been annexed to this CWA. These documents and guidelines are equally applicable to all other CWAs developed in the context of this workshop "WS/BII2". This CWA is part of the set of CWAs that have been prepared by the second CEN Workshop on "Business Interoperability Interfaces for Public procurement in Europe" (WS/BII2).
