Short description
The standard shows a structured approach to initial deployment or the transition of product data management (PDM) systems. It provides an overview of the current state of the technical basics of PDM systems. Furthermore, the involvement of a PDM system in the PLM process is illustrated. The standard refers to both large enterprises and global corporations as well as medium-sized enterprises. For the cost-effectiveness analysis of the use of PDM systems, appropriate assessment procedures are proposed. It is recommended for small businesses to examine the relevance of a PDM implementation on the basis of this standard, in particular from a cost/benefit aspects point of view.
