Short description
In comparison to ambient air exhaust gas may underlie buoyant forces due to temperature (thermal momentum), vertical wind speed (mechanical momentum) and/or humidity (thermal momentum through release of latent heat). This thermal buoyancy leads to a rise of exhaust gas and is called plume rise. To determine this plume rise parameterizations are used which either basis on measurements or alternatively on modelling. This standard describes a model, its necessary boundary conditions, assumptions and limitations. The model can be used on its own or in conjunction with a dispersion model.
