Short description
This standard covers the planning and dimensioning of in-plant milk-run systems. An in-plant milk-run system is an internal transport system in which transport units are moved in bundles (as a train). It usually consists of a towing tractor with several trailers attached to it and is based on a transport concept in a company where supply and/or disposal points are located along one (or more) defined routes. The advantage of milk-trains is, for example, in the saving of transport routes through bundling. The standard explains the various application requirements that have to be fulfilled for in-plant milk-run systems. It also describes the characteristics from which the appropriate applications for milk-train-runs can be derived.
