Short description
The series of standards VDI 2587 deals with measures to reduce emissions from printing and coating plants. This standard deals with plants for the mechanical coating, varnishing, laminating or printing (rotogravure, flexographic and digital printing processes) of web materials with liquid substances or mixtures, insofar as the liquid substances/mixtures contain volatile organic compounds or to which organic volatile compounds are added for their suitability for use. Web-type materials within the meaning of this standard may consist of paper, cardboard, plastics, nonwovens, metal foils (up to approx. 0.2 mm thickness) as well as composite materials made from them. This standard describes in particular measures with which the emissions of such installations can be reduced according to the state of the art. It also provides assistance in the assessment of emissions in the event of disturbances of the intended operation and gives information on safety requirements which may have an impact on the emissions of the above-mentioned installations. It can also be used as a source of knowledge for comparable processes that are not explicitly described in this standard.
