Short description
Air ducts in ventilation and air-conditioning systems have the task of distributing or collecting air flows to the intended extent. The air ducts must be dimensioned in such a way that the required volume flows can be conveyed with a fan without significant adjustment measures (e. g. throttling). The standard deals with the design principles for air transport and air distribution. Furthermore, recommendations are given on the design of the air duct networks, taking into account the possible energy savings, as well as information on sound and heat insulation. The standard is to be applied to the design of new air duct systems and to the mathematical verification of existing air duct systems in ventilation and air conditioning systems with the special purpose of verifiably establishing the hydraulic balance in the design condition.
