VDI 4068 Blatt 12:2020-04 - Draft

This standard formulates requirements for Competent Persons and for training programmes for Competent Persons who are to be commissioned to test fire extinguishing systems as work equipment in accordance with § 14 BetrSichV or as systems requiring monitoring in accordance with § 15 and § 16 BetrSichV in conjunction with Annex 2 Section 4 (pressure systems). Requirements for Competent Persons to test portable and mobile fire extinguishers are not dealt with in this standard. The scope of this standard does not cover Competent Persons who test electrical and electronic equipment for fire detection and control of fire extinguishing systems and the suitability of fire extinguishing systems for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. If the complexity of the extinguishing system so requires, the employer must issue several test orders to specialised Competent Persons. As a rule, installers of extinguishing systems have employees who, as external Competent Persons, are able to carry out the tests of extinguishing systems in accordance with BetrSichV.
